Borneo, Celebes, Aru book was an excerpt from a much detailed book called The Malay Archipelago.

First of all, he shot the poor Orang Utan, the fur and skull sent back to England, more precise, to Derby Museum. It was middle of 1850’s, not even WWF or Greenpeace existed, so what do I expect? Disgusted? Not really, it was different time, different era

This book just like another diary, another travelogue. There is a chapter dedicated to the life of Dyaks (Dayak) and his journey to those remote villages.

Part entymologist, Russel Wallace also recorded various kind of insects and other animals and plants too in Celebes (Sulawesi). He sailed to the remote island of Aru and continued his work there.
